Summer 2022 Enrollment Survey
  • With registration in full swing for Summer 2022, the Quality and Research Committee would like to gather data on current registrations at NAASS member institutions. 
  • The Committee has created a short survey (8 questions) to get feedback from members on enrollments and general feedback on the state of summer for 2022. 
  • Complete the survey here by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, Friday, April 29, 2022
  • Thank you in advance for completing the survey - results will be shared with membership as soon as possible. 

Renew your NAASS Membership and Register for the Annual Conference 

  • With the end of the fiscal year fast approaching, what better time to renew your NAASS membership for 2022-2023!
  • By renewing your NAASS membership, you and your colleagues will be eligible for the NAASS member registration rate for the conference and get instant access to numerous membership benefits

Submit a Conference Proposal

  • NAASS invites you to share your experiences related to Lessons from the Pandemic, Opportunity Gap, Virtual Learning, or Equity & Inclusion by presenting at the 2022 Annual Conference.  Single presentations, group presentations, and panels are welcome and encouraged. A poster session is available, too. 

  • Submit your proposal here by May 15 for priority consideration.  Final deadline is June 15.

Volunteer to Be a Reviewer  

  • Consider supporting NAASS by volunteering your time as a proposal reviewer!

  • Fill out this form here if interested - volunteers will review all presentations, posters, and panel discussions that are submitted to the Conference & Program Planning committee, helping shape the content of the NAASS annual conference.

  • We are already thinking about 2022, and we can't wait to be in-person for the next NAASS annual conference in Philadelphia in September 2022.

Special Recognition for NAASS Members

  • At the Annual Business Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 11 during the Virtual Summit, two outstanding NAASS leaders were awarded with Distinguished Service for their extraordinary work for the Association and contributions to the field of summer session administration. 
  • Congratulations to Trish Suske (University of Nevada, Las Vegas), Steven Girardot (Georgia Tech), and Shawn Smith (NC State University) on this incredible distinction!

Register for Virtual Summit Today!  

  • Now is the time to register for the upcoming NAASS Virtual Summit, held Nov. 8-12, 2021. 
  • The Conference Program and Planning Committee is pleased to announce Summit's closing keynote speaker, Josephine “Joey” Volpe, Assistant Vice Provost for Advising Development at the University of Illinois Chicago. The discussion will feature topics on leadership and professional development within higher education. 
  • Additional Summit highlights include opening keynote speaker, Jim Shelton (Former Deputy Secretary of Education), daily main sessions focused on a global topic along with break-out discussions to dive deeper with other participants, and working group sessions to meet and collaborate with colleagues on topics that matter to you.

NAASS Summit: One Cool Thing Campaign

  • There's still time to submit your 'One Cool Thing' video for Virtual Summit!
  • Check out this brief video from NAASS member Jewel Cash (Boston University) describing what this campaign is about. All videos can be submitted via this Google form
  • Summit attendees are encouraged to submit up to a five-minute video highlighting their institution’s accomplishments and special initiatives. Videos will be published on the NAASS website and social media platforms.

Nominate a NAASS Member for an Award

  • Each year at our annual gathering, NAASS recognizes outstanding members through the Honorary Life Member Award and the Distinguished Service Award.
  • Submit a nomination on behalf of another NAASS member for each award here by Friday, Oct. 29 @ 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time - a space has been created on the submission form to provide a statement of reasoning behind your nomination.

Communication from the NAASS Executive Committee

  • Keep an eye out for an email from the NAASS Executive Committee (EC) which will provide an overview of proposed changes to the bylaws for the NAASS leadership structure.

The Vote is in for NAASS President-Elect!

  • The vote is in - NAASS Voting Members have selected Dr. David Lee of SMU as the next President-Elect of the Association!
  • Dr. Lee, current Assistant Vice President for Curricular Operations and Strategy at SMU, has been a dedicated member of NAASS since 2016, serving in roles such as Assistant Vice President (2017-2018) and Regional Vice President (2019-2021) for the Middle/Southern states.

NAASS 2021 Virtual Summit, Nov. 8-12, 2021

Working Groups Initiative

  • Want to collaborate with other NAASS members on topics related to summer/special sessions, right from where you're at? Then it's time to join a NAASS Working Group!
  • Working Groups are an initiative to encourage members to connect with others in roles similar to theirs to share best practices, write articles, publish scholarship and more.
  • Working Groups will also be featured on the first day of the NAASS Virtual Summit - learn more.

Access to the NAASS Forum

  • With the implementation of our new membership portal, all current members have access to the new NAASS Forum on the site.
  • To access, log in to the membership portal here
  • Click on the 'Quick Links' button on the top of the page towards the right.
  • Select 'Forum.'
  • Click on 'NAASS Forum - General Discussion.'
  • On the next page, click on the button on the right-hand side of the page that says 'Forum Actions.'
  • Select 'Subscribe to Instant Updates' (when someone posts on the Forum or replies to your post, you will receive an email notification).
  • To create a new post, click on 'New Topic' on the left-hand side of the same page.
  • Additionally, to ensure you are receiving all notifications from the membership portal, once signed into the platform, click on the 'My Profile' button at the top of the page, click 'Edit' under 'Personal Information,' select the 'Information & Settings' tab, scroll to the bottom and ensure that the 'Forum Digest,' 'Group Digest,' 'Daily Updates,' and 'Weekly Updates' are all checked.

NAASS 2021 Virtual Summit, Nov. 8-12, 2021

NAASS Elections - President-Elect

  • It's election season at NAASS! Members across North America are casting ballots for NAASS President-Elect. The person designated as the 'voting member' for your institution will cast the vote on behalf of your college/university. 
  • The NAASS President-Elect will serve a one-year term as President-Elect starting in fall 2021, a one-year term as President starting in fall 2022, and a one-year term as Past-President starting in Fall 2023.
